A key member of Israel’s war cabinet threatens to resign

Disagreements among Israel’s war cabinet over forming a new government after the war in Gaza

Tel Aviv: Benny Gantz, a member of Israel’s war cabinet, threatened to resign in opposition to the Israeli prime minister’s plans in Gaza after the end of the war.

Benny Gantz, a member of Israel’s three-member war cabinet, said he would leave the cabinet on June 8 if Netanyahu does not develop a new war plan to handle civilian affairs in Gaza, according to the World News Agency.

Benny Gantz says that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu should make an emergency plan together with international forces and Arab countries to manage the administrative affairs in Gaza.

They called on Netanyahu to retake Gaza, encourage voluntary migration of Palestinians from the territory and restore Jewish settlements removed in 2005.

On Benny Gantz’s ultimatum to resign, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said that Benny Gantz’s terms would be tantamount to defeat for Israel, maintaining Hamas and establishing a Palestinian state.

It should be noted that the third member of Israel’s war cabinet, Defense Minister Yves Gallant, has also demanded to prepare a plan for the establishment of a new government after the war in Gaza.

Arab countries, including the United States, have also expressed their desire to establish a government of the Palestinian Authority in Gaza, but Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has indicated that he will deploy his troops in Gaza as an alternative to Hamas.
