The government and opposition have reached an agreement on the formation of a parliamentary committee to look into the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). The ordinance for the establishment of this committee was tabled in the National Assembly and is expected to be passed soon.

However, a deadlock continues on the issue of imposing new taxes. The opposition is vehemently against any new tax measures, while the government is pushing for revenue enhancements to boost the economy.

It remains to be seen how these issues will be resolved and whether consensus can be reached on both fronts. The formation of the parliamentary committee on the privatization of PIA is a positive development, but further negotiations will be needed to break the stalemate on new taxes.
