Elections to elect a new president in Iran will be held without delay; Date announced

On June 28, there will be voting for the presidential election across the country, the Iranian Election Body

Yesterday, 8 people including Iran’s President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister were killed in a helicopter crash, in his place, Vice President Mohammad Mokhbar will serve as the interim president who has 2 months to hold the presidential election.

According to the Iranian media, the statement issued by the election body said that the presidential election will be held on June 28, for which nomination papers can be submitted from May 30 to June 3.

The statement said that after the verification of the documents, the candidates will be marked and the list will be issued. Election campaign will be conducted from June 12 to June 27 and voting will be held on June 28.

It should be remembered that the funeral prayers of President Ibrahim Raisi and others will be offered in Tehran on Wednesday. Ayatollah Khamenei will lead the funeral prayer, after which the dead will be sent to their native areas for burial.

President Ibrahim Raisi’s dead body will be taken to Mashhad where once again the funeral prayer will be offered and his burial will also take place in Mashhad. A 5-day national mourning is being observed in Iran.
