Helicopter of Iranian president and ministers crashed; Appeal for prayers

The Iranian president, foreign minister and staff have been out of touch since the helicopter crash

Tehran: The helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and the Foreign Minister had to make a hasty and chaotic landing as a result of an accident, after which the President and the Foreign Minister could not be contacted.

According to Al Jazeera, Qatar’s broadcasting agency, high-ranking officials, including President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdullahyan, were returning to Iran from Azerbaijan. The accident took place in Iran’s eastern province of Azerbaijan.

Since the helicopter accident, President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hussain Amir Abdullahyan have not been able to be contacted. Iran’s Fars news agency has appealed to the public to pray for the president.

The Iranian president, foreign minister, governor of East Azerbaijan province, cleric Hojtaullah Al-Hashim and other local officials were also on board the helicopter.

Interior Minister Ahmed Wahidi told the media in a short conversation that the rescue operation is facing difficulties due to heavy fog and bad weather at the place of the helicopter accident.

He did not say anything about the nature of the accident and the welfare of the people on board the helicopter. The interior minister said that efforts are being made to collect the details.

It should be remembered that 63-year-old Ibrahim Raisi was elected president in 2021.
