Islamabad: It was agreed on the immediate repatriation of 43 Pakistani prisoners imprisoned in Sri Lanka.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was met by High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Admiral (Retd) Ravindra Chandra Srivijay Gunaratne. In the meeting, it was agreed on the immediate return of 43 Pakistani citizens imprisoned in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan High Commissioner assured all possible cooperation in this regard. The Federal Home Minister thanked the Sri Lankan High Commissioner for his support for the repatriation of the prisoners.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that arrangements for the return of Pakistani prisoners to the country will be finalized in a few days. The Ministry of Home Affairs had been working with the Sri Lankan authorities for the past one month to bring back these prisoners.

He said that the relations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan are going from strength to strength in the last 7 decades. Pakistan is keen to further develop mutual relations in various sectors.

In the meeting, matters of mutual interest and development of bilateral relations were discussed and it was also agreed to increase cooperation in security and anti-narcotics.
