Military helicopters collide in Malaysia; 10 officials killed

Kuala Lumpur: During training exercises of the Malaysian Navy, two helicopters collided in mid-air, resulting in the death of all the people in both helicopters.

According to the World News Agency, the accident took place at the Lumut Naval Base in Perak state during war exercises. Both helicopters were flying at a low altitude over the Lumut Stadium.

After the collision, the helicopters fell to the ground and burst into flames. The fire immediately engulfed both the helicopters. During the rescue operations, 10 charred bodies were recovered from the wreckage.

The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, but eyewitnesses say that one helicopter collided with the rear rotor blade of another helicopter while in low flight.

According to the eyewitnesses, after this collision, both the helicopters went out of control of the pilot and hit the ground.

A statement issued by the Malaysian Navy spokesperson said that an inquiry committee was formed to investigate the incident.
