Punjab; It was discovered that wheat was bought cheaply from farmers and stored in godowns

Lahore: In Punjab, it has been revealed that wheat is being bought cheaply from farmers and stored in godowns.

During the ongoing tussle between political and farmer circles and bureaucrats over the issue of government wheat purchase in the province, the hoarding mafia came into the field to take advantage of the ambiguity.

According to the sources, the mafia is buying wheat from the farmers at cheap prices and storing it in secret warehouses and after a few months, the cheaply bought wheat will be sold to flourmills at high prices.

It should be noted that in the last 2 years flour became expensive because of the stockist mafia. Market sources say that currently farmers are getting 3200 to 3300 rupees per maund. Middlemen are selling this wheat to flourmills at Rs 3500 to 3600.

In Punjab, the people are deprived of complete relief despite the reduction in the ex-mill price of 20 kg flour bag by Rs 600. Retailers are making a profit of Rs 200-300 on a 20 kg bag. The ex-mill price of a 20 kg bag of flour in Lahore is Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,100.
