Islamabad: During the first 9 months (July to March) of the current financial year 2023-24, Pakistan received a loan of 9.8 billion dollars.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs has released the data on Pakistan’s debt, according to which, during the first 9 months (July to March) of the current fiscal year 2023-24, Pakistan received a debt of 9.8 billion dollars, which is the same period of the previous fiscal year. This is $2 billion less than the $7.8 billion loan I received.

According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, during the current fiscal year, Pakistan has set a target of borrowing 17.4 billion dollars, 1.9 billion dollars received from the IMF and 1 billion dollars received from the United Arab Emirates are not part of it.

According to the data, the debt target for this year has been reduced from 17.62 billion dollars to 17.4 billion dollars, the current account deficit is likely to be 2 billion dollars instead of 6 billion dollars, while Pakistan has 1.5 billion due to the high interest rate. The billion dollar Eurobond issuance program has also been postponed.
