Decision to impose fixed tax on beauty parlors and marriage halls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to impose a fixed tax on beauty parlors and marriage halls in the province from the next financial year.

Marriage halls and beauty parlors will be divided into different categories based on their size and volume of business to be charged fixed sales tax on services. Director General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority Fauzia Iqbal met with Chief Minister’s Advisor on Finance Department Muzamil Aslam and gave him a detailed briefing regarding KPRA.

It was decided in the meeting that the owners of wedding halls and beauty parlors will be given the option to choose between fixed rates and percentage rates of sales tax on services after which they will pay the monthly tax capra according to their chosen system. Marriage halls and beauty parlors will be divided into different categories according to their size and volume of business on which different fixed rates of sales tax on services will be applicable.

Advisor to Finance Muzamil Aslam said that all the stakeholders including business organizations and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce will be taken into confidence, after that if any business person or organization is involved in tax evasion. If found, strict legal action will be taken against them.

On this occasion, Advisor Finance Muzmal Aslam issued orders to amend the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sales Tax on Services Act 2022 to include recommendations to give a certain portion of the fines received from tax evaders as a reward to those who identify tax evasion through whistleblowers. will go

The Finance Advisor has issued orders to tax 13% instead of 15% for those paying by credit card at restaurants and hotels included in the standard rates i.e. 15% for sales tax on services of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. For all these measures, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sales Tax on Services Act 2022 will be amended.

He said that all these decisions are being taken after consultation with business organizations and Chamber of Commerce representatives and they will be implemented only after consultation with them.
