Jinnah Hospital Karachi lacks facilities, executive director denies

Karachi: Jinnah Hospital is the largest government hospital in Shahr Quaid, but due to inattention and criminal negligence of the authorities, the patients who come here are deprived of numerous facilities.

Due to the lack of facilities provided in the government hospital, the patients undergoing treatment in the hospital are also forced to buy essential medicines from the market.

According to the report of ARY News correspondent Anwar Khan, there is a shortage of medicines in the emergency ward for several months, while the oxygen ports in the emergency have been broken and the ECG machine is not available even though these machines are repaired and maintained every year. Funds are provided.

He said that despite receiving Rs 12 to 13 billion funds, the condition of the hospital is very alarming, patients and their families are forced to go out to get medicines.

Thousands of patients come to the emergency department of Jinnah Hospital on a daily basis but there is not even one nursing staff for every 100 patients.

During the tenure of the former executive director of the hospital late Sami Jamali, the administrative matters of the hospital were somewhat better but now no significant progress is being made to manage these matters.

In this regard, in the program of ARY News, the Executive Director of Jinnah Hospital, Prof. Dr. Shahid Rasool, said that the budget we get is according to 1100 beds, but currently the number of beds has reached 2200.

Regarding the shortage of medicines, he said that no medicine is being imported and there is no such situation as far as shortage of equipment is concerned, all required equipment is available and in good condition.

He said that he has requested the Sindh government to increase the budget of the hospital and the Chief Minister of Sindh has assured that the budget of the hospital will be increased this year.
