The film ‘Lapata Ladies’ broke the record of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’

Mumbai: Directed by Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s ex-wife Kiran Rao, Lapatha Ladies beat Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s blockbuster Animal on Netflix.

According to Indian media, Kiran Rao’s film ‘Lapata Ladies’ was released on OTT platform Netflix on April 26 last month and in just one month, the film got 13.8 million views on Netflix.

On the other hand, Ranbir Kapoor’s super hit controversial film ‘Animal’ was released on Netflix on January 26 this year and the film has collected a total of 13.6 million views on Netflix in four months.

If the two films are compared, it is worth noting here that the views of the film ‘Animal’ in about four months were more than that of Kiran Rao’s ‘Lappata Ladies’ in just 30 days.

Based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami, the film ‘Lappatha Ladies’ stars Pratibha Raanta, Sparash Shrivastava, and Nitanshi Goyal in stellar performances.

The film tells the story of a man whose bride gets lost during a train journey when he brings another bride home after being unrecognizable due to a mask.

Set against the backdrop of the simplicity and oblivion of rural India, the film unfolds when two processions are on their way to their respective destinations in a train.

Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande produced the film ‘Lapata Ladies’ which released in theaters on March 1.

On the other hand, Ranbir Kapoor’s film ‘Animal’ was released in theaters in December 2023, the film faced severe criticism for showing violent and controversial scenes.
