The ICCT Twenty20 World Cup 2022 finalist teams will compete in the first T20 tomorrow, the first match of the four-match series between Pakistan and England will be played at Headingley Leeds tomorrow.

The remaining three matches of the four-match series will be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham on May 25, Cardiff on May 28 and The Oval, London on May 30.

After the series, both the teams will leave for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in America and West Indies.

The last T20 International between Pakistan and England was the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. In this match played in Melbourne, England defeated Pakistan by five wickets, in which Sam Curran was declared the player of the match for his performance of 3 wickets for 12 runs.

After winning the series 2-1 against Ireland in Dublin last week, the Pakistan team will enter the field at Headingley with full strength. Shaheen Afridi was the player of the series in the series against Ireland, while Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi were named player of the match in both the victories.

In the T20 International matches played between the two teams, England has won 19 matches, Pakistan has won 9 matches while one match has not been fruitful. The last T20 series played between the two teams was won by England by four to three.

Pakistan team’s white ball head coach Gary Kirsten has joined the team on May 19 for the first assignment of his two-year tenure.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who is the most successful T20I captain with 46 victories, says I am confident that Pakistan will continue the momentum of the Ireland series win in the series against England.

“Our two-one win in Dublin showcased the talent of our batsmen and bowlers, as well as giving us a learning opportunity as we look to improve in our fields,” he said.

“We have had important training sessions at Headingley and head coach Gary Kirsten is now with the squad and now our focus is on this series and then the T20 World Cup,” Babar Azam said.
