First T20: West Indies beat Pakistan Women’s team by one run

Karachi: West Indies defeated Pakistan by one run in the first match of T20 Women’s series.

Chasing an easy target of 123 runs, the host team managed to score 121 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

Captain Nida Dar was the most successful batsman on behalf of Pakistan Women’s team with 27 runs, Sidra Amin scored 23 runs, Muniba Ali scored 18 runs, Alia Riaz scored 12 runs, Ayesha Zafar scored 7 runs and Tobiah Hasan scored 6 runs, Najia Alvi scored 7 runs. Be not out with

Karisma Ramharek took 4 wickets for just 15 runs, Keana Joseph, Hayley Mathews and Effe Fletcher took 1, 1 wicket each.

Earlier, West Indies set Pakistan a target of 123 runs in the first match of the Women’s T20 International series.

In the opening match of the five-match series at the National Bank Stadium, West Indies won the toss and batted first, scoring 122 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

The first wicket of the visiting team fell on the second ball of the first over. Captain Hayley Mathews, who scored centuries in two matches of the ODI series without scoring any runs, was caught by Najia off the ball of Sadia Iqbal.

On behalf of West Indies, Kiana Joseph scored 34, Stephanie Taylor scored 30 runs, Chadden Nation, Aaliya Allan, Shaneel Henry and Efe Fletcher scored 13 runs each, Sherry Ann Fraser remained not out with five runs.

Fatima Sana took three while Sadia Iqbal dismissed two players, captain Nidadar, Diana Baig and Tuba Hasan got 1, 1 wicket.

The second match of the series will be played on Sunday, the third on April 30, the fourth on May 2 and the fifth on May 3. In the ICCT Twenty20 women’s rankings, Pakistan is ranked 8th, while West Indies women’s team is ranked 6th.
