41 people died due to floods and landslides

Floods and landslides caused havoc due to heavy rains in West Sumatra province of Indonesia, 41 people died and 17 went missing in various accidents.

According to the foreign news agency, the police, army and local rescue teams are engaged in efforts to find the missing persons.

The Mount Merapi eruption sent cold lava down towards the population below, silting roads and rice fields, washing away cars and damaging homes and buildings.

Due to damage to the roads, relief operations are facing difficulties.
