America is ready to withdraw troops from another country

Due to leaning towards Russia, America decided to withdraw its troops from Niger.

The US will withdraw its troops from Niger as the West African country increasingly turns to Russia and away from Western powers.

According to US media, the US State Department has agreed to withdraw about 1,000 troops from the country under military rule from July 2023.

US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and Nigerian Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zine met and reports said Washington had committed to begin planning an “orderly and responsible” withdrawal of its troops from the country.

The United States built a military base in Niger to counter armed groups that have pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda and ISIS in the Sahel region, which also includes Burkina Faso and Mali.

The large Agadez airbase, about 920 km (572 mi) from the capital Niamey, was used for manned and unmanned surveillance flights and other operations.
