Armed men attacked the police van and freed the accomplice; 2 officers killed
2 police officers are injured, one of them is said to be in critical condition
Paris: Gunmen ambushed a prison van at a motorway toll in France, killing two police officers and injuring two while the attackers freed their accomplice.
According to the World News Agency, the attackers were riding in two vehicles and they hit the police van, which destroyed the front part of the police van and stopped it in the middle of the road.
Later, the assailants freed their accomplices and opened fire on the police personnel. Two officers were killed while the condition of one of the two injured officers is said to be critical.
Police have launched a search operation but no arrests have been made so far. The identity of the absconding accused was not disclosed.
