Government notice on closure of scrap shops in Sher Shah Kabadi Market

Karachi: The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the Government of Sindh, IG, DIGs and concerned SHOs on the petition against the closure of scrap and junk shops by the police.

According to Express News, a hearing was held in the High Court on the petition against the closure of scrap and junk shops by the police.

The petitioner’s lawyer stated that the Karachi Police had closed down thousands of scrap shops in the city, including the Sher Shah Kabadi Market. The people were following all the instructions of the police and still closed the business.

The petitioner said that scrap dealers import and export goods, people involved in scrap pay taxes, operate legally, stopping the business is a violation of Article 4, 9 and 25 of the Constitution, the police said. Suddenly, thousands of shops were closed, millions of workers were unemployed, police action was declared illegal and scrap and junk work was allowed.

The court issued a notice to the Sindh government, IG, DIGs and concerned SHOs on the petition and sought their response at the next hearing.
