The Department of Telecommunications has introduced a new facility for people in India to report suspected fraudulent communications. The government has introduced a new Chakshu portal under its Sanchar Saathi initiative. The new portal aims to detect and block suspected fraud calls and messages.

What is Chikshu Portal?

The Chikshu Portal is a new initiative by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to curb suspected fraudulent communications, in simple words, cyber frauds. This feature is now available on the Sanchar Saathi website. People across the country can now report cyber frauds like fake customer care helplines, bank accounts, payment wallets, gas connections, impersonation of government officials, etc. Through the new Chikshow portal, users can report such cyber frauds through calls, SMS or even. WhatsApp.

Additionally, the DoT has also introduced a Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP), which allows sharing of information with law enforcement agencies, banks and other financial institutions to combat this type of fraud. Therefore, Chikshu Portal and DIP are expected to help detect and prevent cyber fraud across the country.

How to report a suspected fraud communication received through a call to Chikshu portal?

The portal allows users to report suspected cyber fraud through calls. How you can report a fraudulent call if you receive one:

Step 1: Go to the sancharsaathi.gov.in website and scroll down to Citizen Centric Services.

Step 2: Under this tab, select the Test option and then click Continue for reporting.

Step 3: Select the fraud category from the drop-down menu and attach a screenshot of the call.

How to report suspected fraud communication received through SMS on Chikshu Portal?

The portal also allows users to report spam or suspected cyber fraud through messages. Here’s how to file a complaint.

Step 1: Visit the sancharsaathi.gov.in website and scroll down to the Citizen Centric Services section.

Step 2: Select Checkshow option from this tab and proceed by clicking Continue for reporting.

Step 3: Select the medium as SMS. Now select the fraud category from the drop down menu and attach the screenshot of the message you received.

Step 4: Select the type of suspicious SMS, whether it was received with a shortcode (eg AX-BCDEFS) or without a shortcode.

Step 5: Enter the mobile number from which you received the suspected fake communication.

Step 7: Finally, enter your personal information, verify it with the OTP, and submit the complaint.

How to report suspected fraud communication received through WhatsApp on Chikshu portal?

The portal also allows you to report any fake messages or calls you receive on the WhatsApp application. However, it is important to note that you should also tell WhatsApp the same so that they can take necessary action to detect and prevent such cyber fraud.

Step 1: From the Checkout menu, select Medium as WhatsApp.

Step 2: Select the fraud category from the drop-down menu and attach a screenshot of the message received.

Step 3: Select the type of suspicious WhatsApp communication, whether it is WhatsApp call or WhatsApp message.

Step 4: Enter the mobile number associated with the suspected fake communication.

Step 5: Identify the date and time of the fake call and provide a comprehensive complaint.

Step 6: Finally, enter your personal information, verify it with the OTP, and proceed to submit the complaint.

Here is a list of things you can report on the Chikshu portal:
