IPL 2024; Two matches were rescheduled, but why?

Due to the state election in India, the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) had to reschedule 2 matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

According to media reports, officials said that due to religious festivals and elections, there were difficulties in providing security, due to which two matches were requested to be rescheduled.

The match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, which was earlier scheduled to be played on 17 April 2024 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, will now be played a day earlier on 16 April 2024.

Similarly, Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad was earlier scheduled to host a match between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals on 16 April 2024. The match will now be played on April 17, 2024.

It should be noted that due to the general elections, the Indian Cricket Board had released the IPL fixtures in two phases, 21 matches in the first phase while the remaining matches have been scheduled after the elections.
