Karachi: University of Karachi Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Iraqi, using his emergency power, removed the Director of ICCBS University of Karachi, Dr. Farzana Shaheen, and appointed Dr. Iqbal as the head of the institution once again.

According to Express News, Dr. Iqbal has been appointed for six months, the notification of which has been issued by the registrar of University of Karachi. According to the notification, the said action has been taken under the emergency powers granted to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi under the Act of 1972.

Earlier, Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry was the Director of ICCBS for 20 years, including four years after his retirement. It is being told that regarding the appointment of Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry, there was immense pressure on the administration of the University of Karachi from some quarters of the Sindh government, while this pressure increased further when UNESCO established in ICCBS. Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry was removed from the ‘UNESCO Chair’ because he was no longer the Director of ICCBS and also asked the University of Karachi administration for new names to head the Chair.

It is being told that UNESCO was informed about this new development by the Acting Director through a letter, but the situation regarding this initiative on the part of UNESCO was very tense and some members of the Board of Governors of ICCBS were very angry. became active and reached the Chief Minister of Sindh regarding this issue, after which an emergency meeting of the ICCBS Board was called. In this meeting, it was also decided to amend the resolution of the previous meeting in which Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry was appointed as an advisor, but instead of an advisor, University of Karachi had to appoint Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry as the Director of ICCBS on Monday. .

On the other hand, it is known that Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry has reached ICCBS with this notification, but currently he has not taken charge of the relevant post. On the other hand, there are reports that ICCBS employees are against this decision.
