Notice issued to Home Secretary to remove Zartaj Gul’s name from ECL

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court issued a notice to the Interior Secretary and sought a response to the request to remove the name of former federal minister Zartaj Gul from the ECL for Hajj payment.

Islamabad High Court Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri has issued a written hearing order on Zartaj Gul’s petition, in which it has been asked that the Interior Secretary appoint a senior officer with knowledge of law to assist the court.

The court has directed that the competent officer should appear in the court on the next hearing with the relevant records and be aware of the facts of the case. In the order, the court has said that according to the lawyer, several cases have been filed against the petitioner, who is facing the law. Accordingly, his name is included in ECL, No Fly List or PNIL.

In the order, the court says that there is no legal reason or moral justification for the application of travel restrictions on Zartaj Gul. Which has not been answered, the petitioner’s counsel has pleaded that Zartaj Gul wants to go on Hajj and therefore the petition should be decided on early.
