Pakistan wants long IMF bailout program, Finance Minister

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that Pakistan wants a long bailout program of the IMF.

In an interview in Washington, the finance minister said that discussions with the IMF are ongoing for the new program, and the priorities and principles will be agreed upon when the mission comes to Islamabad.

The finance minister said that it is premature to talk about the size of the program, it is a program of Pakistan, not an IMF program, Pakistan is funded by the IMF.

He said that if the loan is approved, NFC will review the award, which needs to be reviewed in the context of the 18th Amendment.

Mohammad Aurangzeb said that many things were transferred to the provinces under NFC, we will discuss with the provinces on NFC.

He further said that there is a need to bring the provincial markets into the tax net. He has discussed with the chief ministers of Punjab and Sindh.
