RO plant closed, two officers suspended for corruption

Tharparkar: The Mithi RO plant established to supply 20 lakh gallons of fresh water per day has been shut down, the main reason being said to be corruption.

In this regard, according to the report of ARY News, there is a strong possibility of drinking water shortage in Tharparkar district once again as several RO plants are damaged.

In this regard, the sources say that with the connivance of the concerned company and the local public health officers, the release of crores of rupees was noticed. Secretary Public Health has suspended 2 senior officers of grade 18 and 17.

The spokesman of the Public Health Department says that Asia’s largest RO plant in Mithi is not supplying water, 2 officers have been suspended and a show cause notice has been issued to the concerned company.

Irregularities were found in the funds of RO plants installed in Tharparkar, Secretary Public Health Engineering Masri Shah visited the mega filtration plant and reviewed the situation.

He has suspended 2 officers and ordered them to report to Karachi for misappropriation of funds of RO plants.

The suspended officers include Executive Engineer Public Health Engineering Muhammad Aslam Dahri and SDNO Mithi Muhammad Idris Memon.
