KARACHI: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has taken notice of the issue of parallel hockey federations in Pakistan, and has given a date to both factions to present their stand.

According to the details, Secretary General of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Haider Hussain wrote a letter to the president of the international body informing about the alarming situation related to hockey in Pakistan.

On the letter, FIH has taken notice of the matter and directed both factions to submit their position and evidence by April 25. Senior Director John Waite said that the basis of FIH President Tayyab Ikram’s connection with Pakistan. But this case is not being included.

He said that the FIH would also request the Pakistan Olympic Association to work with the government of Pakistan to come up with an amicable solution, as “we want Pakistani athletes to continue participating in international events.”

Earlier, Secretary General PHF Haider Hussain in a letter requested the international body to support the PHF by adhering to the IOC Sports Governance Charter, the IOC, FIH and PHF. There is no scope for parallel organization in the constitution.

The letter stated that the FIH had been informed that some elements were involved in parallel organizing, while a letter from the Government of Pakistan not to interfere in the affairs of sports federations was also on record. , and the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) had assured the IOC not to interfere in the affairs of sports federations.

Pakistan Hockey Federation wrote that participation in international events was ensured despite the unfavorable conditions, Pakistan Hockey had to bear the consequences of not participating in the 2018 Pro League in the form of relegation. should be improved.

The letter demanded that FIH play its role in the matter and stand in solidarity with the Pakistan Hockey Federation.
