A person involved in robbery should not be allowed to be buried in his own graveyard

KARACHI: A big jirga of Mehsud tribes against robberies and drug peddling has been held in Manghopir, a suburb of Karachi, against the backdrop of a huge increase in street crimes in Shahr Quaid.

According to the details, the representatives of Mehsud tribes living in Karachi held a long consultative meeting (Jirga) in Manghopir yesterday, in which some important suggestions were made to prevent the youth of Mehsud tribes from committing crimes.

A proposal came up in the Jirga that if a person belonging to the Mehsud community is involved in a robbery, he should not be taken to the police station or the court to rescue him.

A suggestion was made that if a member of the community was involved in robbery, his funeral should be boycotted and he should not be allowed to be buried in his own cemetery.

It was also suggested that there should be a social boycott of the families of those involved in criminal activities, and the same should be done with those involved in drug trafficking.

Jirga spokesperson Mufti Khalid said that the proposals of sub-branches of the Mehsud tribe have come forward, now an authorized committee will review these proposals, it will be seen which of these proposals can be implemented. The points will be brought forward in formal written form.

Explaining the purpose of the Jirga, he said that the people involved in crimes will now be tried to be prevented from committing crimes by the community.
