Apple opens applications for SWIFT Student Challenge 2024: Know dates, eligibility, awards

apple has begun inviting applications for its annual Swift Student Challenge, a global competition for students who aspire to become developers. The competition requires participants to showcase their coding skills and creativity through app playgrounds. Each year, the Cupertino-based tech giant recognizes 350 winners from among the participants. This year, Apple will also select 50 outstanding submissions from among 350 winners and invite those participants to the company’s headquarters in Cupertino.

Apple Swift Student Challenge 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Swift Student Challenge Landing page is now live and interested students can start applying for the competition. According to Apple’s eligibility criteria, applicants must be 13 years of age or older in the US and 16 years of age or older in the EU. In other areas, relevant jurisdiction applies.

Applicants must either be enrolled in an accredited educational institution or public home school equivalent, enrolled in an educational program at a STEM organization, enrolled in an Apple Developer Academy, or graduated from high school or equivalent within the past 6 months. Need to graduate and wait for it. Have received acceptance or acceptance from a recognized educational institution.

Apple Swift Student Challenge 2024 Rules

Participants will have to create an interactive scene in Swift Playgrounds or Xcode on a theme of their choice from the ones provided. The former is an app playground for those who are very new to coding, and the latter caters to those who have mastered it. The playground experience created should not exceed the 3 minute mark. Submissions must be in a zip file in AppPlayground format (.swiftpm). The file should be playable offline and the file should include all necessary resources. Zip file size should not exceed 25MB.

The app Playground must be built with and run on Swift Playgrounds 4.4 or later, which requires iPadOS 16 or macOS 13.5, or later, or Xcode 15 macOS 13.5, or later.

Apple Swift Student Challenge 2024 Prizes

As every year, Apple will select 350 winners. These winners will receive recognition from the tech giant and a one-year membership to the Apple Developer Program, a voucher that will allow winners to take app development with a Swift certification exam, and a gift from Apple.

However, this year, the 50 outstanding submissions will be selected by Apple as ‘distinguished winners’ and invited to its Cupertino headquarters for three days in the summer. During the trip, selected winners will have the opportunity to interact with Apple experts and engineers, participate in activities and more, the company said. Travel and accommodation will be borne by the tech giant.
