“Babar Azam could not win any trophy as captain”

National cricketer Babar Azam will become the first captain to lead Pakistan in 3 consecutive ICCT20 World Cups.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi after meeting with Babar Azam has once again entrusted him with the leadership of green shirts in T20 and ODI formats.

Shaheen Afridi was given the lead in just one T20I series after being handed the captaincy, in which Pakistan lost 1-4 to New Zealand.

Under the leadership of Babar Azam, Pakistan team played T20 World Cup 2021, T20 World Cup 2022 and ICC ODI World Cup 2023, but could not win any event.

Similarly, Babar Azam played 2022, 2023 in Asia Cup under Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and missed out on winning the title there as well.

In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Babar Azam has been performing the duties of the captain since 2022, but despite playing three consecutive seasons as a captain, the team has failed to win a trophy.

On the other hand, Shaheen Afridi, who resigned from the leadership, has been able to win the PSL title twice for Lahore Qalandars.
