Helpline 1093 restored for dog bite complaints in Sindh

Karachi: Helpline 1093 for complaints of stray dog ​​bites has been restored in Sindh.

Sindh High Court heard a petition related to the action against stray dogs and the non-supply of vaccines, in which the Project Director Anti-Rabies Control Program submitted a response to the court.

The reply said that the helpline 1093 for complaints of dog bite incidents has been restored. More than 19 thousand dogs have been vaccinated from January 2022 to March 2024.

According to the report, rabies control senators have been formed in 4 districts. Laws have been made to control the growing population of stray dogs. Dog population control centers will be established in every district of the province.

On February 29, a notification to set up Dog Population Control Center in every district has also been issued. A mobile app has also been created for the complaint of stray dogs and complaints related to biting incidents.

This app will be activated for public after Ramadan. Citizens can file a complaint with photo and address related to stray dogs. Vaccination of stray dogs is ongoing. The court adjourned the hearing till May 4.
