Prime Minister’s order to speed up the nationwide campaign to end trafficking

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to speed up the nationwide campaign to end smuggling and has said that he is firmly committed to root out smuggling from Pakistan.

According to Express News, a high-level review meeting was held in Islamabad today regarding the prevention of smuggling in the country under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Federal Ministers Mohsin Naqvi, Jam Kamal Khan, Ahad Khan Cheema, Rana Tanveer, Dr. Mossadegh Malik, Azam Nazir Tarar, Chairman FBR, Attorney General, officials of law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies and related authorities participated in the meeting. of

In the meeting, the Prime Minister was informed in detail about smuggling, misuse of Afghan transit trade, drugs, food items including sugar, wheat, fertilizers, petroleum products, illegal weapons. The report of the investigation committee headed by AD Khawaja regarding Afghan transit trade was also presented to the meeting.

The meeting was informed that after consultation with all stakeholders, the National Anti-Trafficking Strategy is in the final stages and will be presented soon for approval. It was informed that two days ago, in a joint operation of law enforcement agencies and customs, a raid was conducted on a smuggling warehouse in Mustang, in which the value of confiscated smuggled goods is more than 10 billion rupees.

The Prime Minister praised the law enforcement agencies and directed them to intensify anti-trafficking efforts. The Prime Minister said that he paid tribute to Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir for his full cooperation with the government to end smuggling.

The Prime Minister appreciated the report of the committee headed by AD Khawaja on the misuse of Afghan transit trade and identifying the elements involved in smuggling and their facilitators. The Prime Minister was informed that a list of traffickers, hoarders and their facilitators has been prepared and provided to law enforcement agencies and provinces.

The Prime Minister directed the immediate removal of the identified officers and departmental action. The Prime Minister directed all law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies to cooperate with each other to prevent trafficking.

He directed that the traffickers and those involved in drug trade should be given real and exemplary punishment. The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Law and Justice to immediately enact necessary legislation in this regard and said that those who loot the money of the nation and their facilitators will definitely not be given any kind of concession, in the border areas. To prevent trafficking, youth should be provided with alternative employment opportunities and favorable environment for business.

The Prime Minister said that in order to prevent the sale and smuggling of Afghan transit trade items in Pakistan, their monitoring should be accelerated and effective, and the customs authorities should conduct a third-party audit of the Afghan transit trade monitoring system.

The Prime Minister issued instructions to immediately release funds for a survey to check the use of drugs at the national level. The Prime Minister also issued instructions to completely stop the smuggling of sugar.
