Protest against appointment of retired professor Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry in University of Karachi

A protest has started in Karachi University against the appointment of 66-year-old retired professor Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry, who was appointed as the director of Karachi University as a result of the orders of the Sindh Chief Minister.

In front of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), employees and teachers raised banners and posters against the appointment of Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry and raised slogans of disapproval.

He declared the appointment of Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry as illegal and against merit.

He called this appointment contrary to the decision of the Supreme Court and demanded to withdraw the decision.

It should be noted that Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry was discharged last year after completing the 4-year term for the fifth time, after which the vice-chancellor of the University of Karachi refused to appoint him for a further term.

Meanwhile, he also held the post of Quarter General of Comstec in Islamabad with a salary of more than 18 lakhs per month.

Last month, two persons, including a woman, who had given assistance to the University of Karachi in terms of building and scientific equipment, strongly recommended to the Chief Minister of Sindh Dr. The vice chancellor Dr. Khalid Mehmood Iraqi has appointed Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry as the director of ICCBS for the sixth time for 6 months using emergency powers.

Interestingly, Iqbal Chaudhry will take charge of 2 positions. He will hold the post of Quarter General of COMSTEC in Islamabad and Director of ICCBS in University of Karachi.
