Risk of increased energy consumption due to artificial intelligence

London: The chief technology officer of fuel cell technology company Series Power has warned that the increased use of artificial intelligence devices for higher efficiency is likely to lead to increased energy consumption.

Speaking on a panel, Caroline Hargrove said she was concerned about the energy consumption of ChetGPT if it was being used for even minor tasks.

According to an International Energy Agency report published in January, a typical Google search uses 0.3 watt-hours of electricity, while a single search on ChatGTP uses 2.9 watt-hours of electricity.
