Mumbai: Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra’s properties worth around 100 crores have been seized.
According to Indian media, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized Rajkundra’s properties in the Bitcoin fraud case, including his residential flat in Juhu, which is registered in the name of Shilpa Shetty.
Apart from this, Rajkundra’s other properties include a residential bungalow in Pune as well as his shares. .
The report stated that Rajkundra was involved in a ‘Ponzi Scam’, a fraudulent platform in which investors were falsely promised returns.
Fraudsters involved in this scheme lure more and more people into the scheme and then pay dividends to new investors from the old investors’ funds.
The investigation alleged that in 2017, Rajkundra had invested around Rs 6,600 crore in bitcoins and fraudulently collected money from investors by promising 10 percent monthly returns.
According to the Enforcement Directorate, Rajkundra and his accomplices cheated new investors and stashed away the bitcoins.
During the investigation, it was found that Rajkundra had received 285 bitcoins from Ponzi scheme mastermind Amit Bhardwaj, which has a current value of 150 crores.
It should be noted that Shilpa Shetty’s husband Rajkandra spent two months in jail in the year 2021 in the case of making obscene films.
