Taliban lift ban on journalists working for Afghanistan International, Reporters Without Borders

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has called on the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture to lift the ban on Afghan journalists working for the London-based TV news channel Afghanistan International.

According to RSF, screening of TV channel broadcasts in public places has also been banned.

It should be noted that the Taliban government banned Afghan journalists or analysts associated with Afghanistan International, Afghanistan’s famous international TV channel, from participating or cooperating in any way with the organization on May 8.

Broadcasting of Afghanistan International, an on-air channel via satellite from London, has also been banned in public places and restaurants.

According to RSF, the Taliban are constantly cracking down on media freedom with the aim of censoring critical reporting. Additionally, several journalists have been jailed after being targeted in recent months.
