Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif gave the Investment Board the goal of creating more facilities for investment and starting new businesses in the country.

An important review meeting regarding the trade sector was held at the Prime Minister’s House under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed immediate steps to make domestic exports more competitive and said that consultation with the private sector should be ensured while making policies regarding ease of trade and business. Trade officers who perform well will be commended, while those who perform poorly will be severely reprimanded and removed from their posts. We need to develop a trade policy that facilitates ease and convenience in doing business.

The Prime Minister directed that the certified duty drawbacks of the exporters should be paid immediately. The Prime Minister also directed to formulate a comprehensive strategy to evaluate the performance of trade and investment officers posted in Pakistani embassies abroad and said that he himself would review the export sector twice every month.

The meeting was given a detailed briefing on recent developments in the trade and export sector, in which it was informed that talks regarding a free trade agreement between Pakistan and the Gulf countries are in the final stages, and corridor trade agreements with Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have been activated. There are positive results coming out.

The Prime Minister has expressed deep sorrow and regret over the death of Sheikh Hiza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nihan, a member of the royal family of the United Arab Emirates. In a condolence message, he expressed his heartfelt condolences to the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nihan, on the death of Sheikh Hiza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nihan. He prayed that Allah grant the deceased a place in Paradise.

Later, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev met the Prime Minister. On this occasion, the Prime Minister accepted the invitation to participate in COP29 and assured full support and cooperation from Pakistan to ensure the success of Azerbaijan in this regard.
