100-year-old British train car discovered in 19th-century fort

Antwerp: Archaeologists have discovered an estimated 100-year-old British train car while excavating a 19th-century castle in Belgium.

According to the London North Eastern Railway (LNER), researchers working to excavate the Northern Citadel in Antwerp, Belgium discovered a dark red train car with the LNER logo on it.

The logging truck is believed to be about 100 years old, consultant archaeologist Femke Martinez said in an LNER news release. It is curious how this car came to Antwerp.

LNER researchers said that this car appears to be the earliest model of these train cars. And these were used for a short period before 1930 when the company replaced them with the blue model.
