36 people died, 46 injured due to rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PDMA
Peshawar: As a result of continuous rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 36 people have died so far while 46 people have been injured and 2391 houses have been damaged due to the collapse of roofs and walls.
PDMA has issued a report on the loss of lives and property due to heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to which 36 people have died and 46 people have been injured so far in various districts of the province due to accidents due to heavy rains. Among the dead are 20 children, 8 men and 8 women, while the injured include 9 women, 33 men and 11 children.
A total of 2391 houses were damaged due to the collapse of walls and roofs in different districts, in which 388 houses were completely damaged and 2003 houses were partially damaged.
Due to heavy rains, life and financial accidents occurred in various districts of Khyber, Dir Upper and Lower, Chitral Upper, Swat, Bajaur, Shangla, Mansehra, Mohmand, Malakand, Kirk, Tank, Mardan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Bunir, Hangu, It happened in Bitgram, Bannu, North and South Waziristan, Kohat, DI Khan and Akzai where normal life was paralyzed due to continuous rain.
On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PDM released 110 million rupees to the administration of the districts affected by the recent rains for financial assistance and relief activities to the families of those who died.
According to PDMA spokesperson, the authority has provided relief materials, including tents, mats, to the affected districts of Swat, Chitral Lower, Bajaur, Kohistan Lower, Peshawar, Nowshera, Mohmand, Dir Upper, Tank and DI Khan. , kitchen sets, blankets, beds, tarpaulins, solar lamps and other daily life items.
PDMA and all related organizations are conducting relief activities in the rain-affected districts, while the Meteorological Department says that the rains are likely to continue intermittently till April 20.
Most of the rivers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are in moderate level of flood and incessant rains have further increased the risk of flooding.
According to the spokesperson, PDMA had already issued a letter to all district administrations to be alert and take precautionary measures in view of the expected rains.
