A live fish was recovered from the stomach of the suffering citizen

Quang Nin: Doctors in Vietnam recently saved a young man’s life when a 30cm long bam fish was found in his stomach with severe damage to his intestines.

According to media reports, a 34-year-old Vietnamese national was admitted to Hai Ha District Medical Center in Quang Ninh province with severe abdominal pain.

Since the patient was unable to describe the symptoms due to the pain, doctors performed an X-ray and ultrasound which revealed a moving object in his abdomen.

X-rays also revealed intestinal perforation and inflammation of the abdomen. The doctors decided that the best treatment was surgery, which would aim to remove the unknown organism and minimize the damage to the intestines.

When surgery was performed on the patient’s stomach, the doctors were shocked to see that the unknown object was actually a 30 cm bam fish.

When the patient was asked how it got into his stomach, the 34-year-old man expressed ignorance. Doctors believe that the bam fish may have entered through the anus to the intestine and then moved from there to the stomach.
