Antony Blanken’s meeting with King Abdullah, Jordan’s emphasis on Gaza ceasefire

US Secretary of State Anthony Blanken met King Abdullah II of Jordan in Amman. According to Arab media, the ongoing tension in the Middle East was discussed in the meeting.

According to the Arab media, the King of Jordan called for an immediate ceasefire and delivery of aid to Gaza and said that immediate intervention is necessary to stop the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza and protect the citizens.

He said that any kind of military operation in Rafah will have very dangerous consequences.

King Abdullah II said that the effects of Gaza can spread to the entire region, including occupied Jerusalem. America can play an important role for two state solution and peace.

He said that peace can be established in the region only with a two-state solution. According to Arab media, the US Secretary of State expressed concern over the growing tension between Palestinians and Israelis.

Antony Blanken said that all the countries of the region have to take joint measures to end the tension.

The US Secretary of State further said that the historical status of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Soleimani Temple needs to be maintained.

He said that Jordan’s role in the maintenance and protection of the holy places in occupied Beit Al-Maqdis is commendable.

Anthony Blanken said that the United States supports a two-state solution to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

According to the Arab media, the US Secretary of State also informed the King of Jordan about the details of his visit to Saudi Arabia.
