Attempted sexual assault of a minor girl; 2 youths killed by angry mob

New Delhi: In the Indian state of Meghalaya, 2 people who tried to sexually assault a minor girl by breaking into a house were tortured to death by an angry mob.
According to Indian media, the 16-year-old girl was alone in her house when two knife-wielding men entered the house and tried to sexually assault her. The people of the neighborhood gathered after hearing the sound of scuffle.
The locals tied the two youths with a rope and tortured them. Meanwhile, the police also reached the spot and tried to free the youth and take them with them.
The angry locals surrounded the police van and demanded the extradition of the accused. To protect them from the angry mob, the police locked the youth in a shop and pulled down the shutters and started negotiating with the chiefs of the area.
However, the angry mob did not agree to cooperate with the police and broke the shutters and brought out the accused. The mob beat them to death with sticks, kicks and punches.
The police somehow managed to evacuate the accused and shift them to the hospital, but by then it was too late. According to the doctors, it has been more than half an hour since the youth died.
The police registered a case on the death of the two youths at the hands of the angry mob and started the investigation. Both of them came to the village to work.
