Australia’s unique pair of friends broke up

Queensland: Australia’s most sought-after dog-bird duo have split after years of companionship, leaving fans devastated and desperate to reunite the animals.

The friendship between Peggy, a bull terrier, and Molly, a crow-like bird, began four years ago when Queensland residents Reece Mortenson and Juliet Wells took the baby bird home. They found him lying in a park and unable to fly.

The couple named the bird Molly and cared for it until it grew wings and was able to fly, but Rees and his wife were surprised to find the wild bird at their home. He didn’t go, but stayed around his pet dog, Peggy.

Reese and Juliet Wells realize that the animals have become friends, so they are both very happy, then they plan to let the world know about this unique friendship and Peggy and Molly’s Instagram and Facebook. Book account and website created.

Soon, this pair of dog and bird became popular on the internet. Currently, Peggy & Molly has a total of more than 2 million followers on Instagram and Facebook.

Seeing the popularity of Peggy and Molly, their owners began selling t-shirts and calendars featuring the animals that were adopted. Then the country’s largest publishing house also published a book titled “Peggy and Molly” on the unique friendship of these animals.

A few days ago, the pair broke up when Molly was taken into custody by a government agency, the Department of Science and Innovation. While justifying this action, the spokesperson of the said organization said that the bird (Molly) was caught illegally from the forest and was kept in the house without any license while the wild animal should stay in the forest.

The move by the Department of Science and Innovation was reported by the animal’s owners via their Facebook account, prompting an outcry from fans of Peggy and Molly.

So far, thousands of people have criticized the government agency and demanded Molly’s return and this trend continues.

Rhys and Juliette Wells have started an online campaign to put pressure on the relevant authorities and extradite Molly, and an online petition has been signed by more than 70,000 people.

Peggy and Molly fans are determined to reunite the friends.
