Customs officials raid, seize tea worth Rs 73 crore

Crackdown on importers for misuse of tax exemption on import of tea for Azad Kashmir.

Spokesperson of Customs says that the Customs officials raided the warehouse and seized 850 tons of tea worth Rs 73 crore.

He said that in the light of the Customs Intelligence report, the Azad Kashmir government formed the JIT. According to the JIT report, taxes of Rs 255 crore were evaded in the imports made in the past.

The spokesperson said that the Customs officials have registered an FIR against the people involved in the incident, the action will help in recovering the stolen money of Rs 255 crore.
