Along with the times, the patterns of fraud, deceit and fraud have also changed. In the digital era, digital methods of renovation have come into the market, as I mentioned in the introduction that an incident of renovation has happened to us, which makes people worried that it can happen?

On 15th April 2024, I received several missed calls from an unknown number on my mobile phone, but I did not answer any calls, then I called them and they told me that I was speaking to Mufti So-and-so from so-and-so madrasa in Multan. I said, Yes, Mufti Sahib, I am talking to Ashfaqullah Khan Ibn Dagai Baba, may God have mercy on him, and he said that some of my relatives living in the United States, living in Jahangira, who are cooperating with different Madrasahs. Jahangira has come today and has arranged for rations for the students of Madrasahs to pay tribute to his deceased. He wants to hand over the portion of Mazharul Uloom to you today because he will return to America after two days.

I said, Hazrat, what is your order for me? They will contact me or I will contact them, in both cases you give me their number and I will save their number so that they do not miss their call. He replied that Mr. Haq, he is from Musturat, I cannot give his number, I ask him to contact you. Then I got a call from another number saying that Mufti Sahib gave me your number, tell me how to deliver this ration, the conversation was not completed and the call was cut. The next day the said mufti called and told that 258 maunds of wheat and other goods have been loaded in 2 trucks and one Mazda is left. Do it so that they give it to the Mazda guy, and all three vehicles can leave together.

After a while I called the same number and spoke to Sajid Sahib, he asked me to send the money to Easy Paisa quickly, he was saying that I am standing at the petrol pump, send the money quickly for petrol. I found their haste and conversation suspicious, so I became a bit careful. After a while, Mufti Sahib called again from the previous number saying that Sajid Sahib has not received the money yet. I said it is better that you send the goods to Darul Uloom, they will get the cash there and the drivers of the three vehicles will also get an additional 2,2000 rupees.

But they said that they need money to buy petrol. I called Sajid Sahib and asked him to talk to the manager of the petrol pump at which you are standing in Jahangira. I then called that my cousin is standing in Jahangira Chowk taking money, you should go to Jahangira Chowk and collect the money. After that I contacted both the numbers several times but there was no connection. These types of calls keep coming to every person including me to find out the details of the bank account. Thank God I have been safe so far, but these frauds have also happened to thousands if not millions of people.

Then it came to know that Fayuzur Rehman Sahib, a late friend of my Babajan (may Allah have mercy on him) and the successor of a distinguished scholar of religion and respected reader of his Darul Uloom, Faizur Rahman Sahib, from Haripur Hazara received a call from the same number saying that I am Mufti So-and-so from Multan. On my return from Balakot, my two sons have met with an accident, one son’s leg has been amputated and the other is seriously injured.

After 10 minutes, I got a call that one of my sons died and the other is in the emergency ward of Ayub complex. You should transfer 20 thousand rupees through easy money and Qari Sahib transferred 20 thousand rupees again. After a while, I got a call again saying that I have left Multan with my wife with the money, upon reaching I will leave my wife at your house and we will go to Ayub Medical Complex and you will also get the money. After a while, I got a call again saying that my son is in the operation theater, please send another 10,000 rupees to the doctor’s number. Qari Sahib once again transferred 10,000 rupees.

During this time, he was contacted by the officials of Federation of Madrasas and it was found that he has been hanged and his honor and God-fearing have been punished. After that Qari Fayuzur Rahman also contacted me and I explained to him in detail what we have to do now. But see the shamelessness and boldness of the neosarbaza that even after grabbing 60 thousand rupees, the fake mufti kept calling them all day and asking for more money.
