Rome: The foreign ministers of the G7 countries have called on Israel to stop the attack on Rafah and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

According to the World News Agency, a meeting of foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) countries France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Great Britain, the United States and the European Union was held on the island of Capri in Italy, in which the situation in Gaza was discussed. went.

The joint statement issued after the meeting said that the participants strongly demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, an end to the attack on Rafah and the release of Israeli hostages in order to prevent the spread of tensions in the region.

The statement said that Israel should refrain from attacking Rafah, where more than 1.7 million Palestinians have taken refuge. This will endanger the lives of innocent lives.

The G7 foreign ministers also stressed the need for a credible and viable plan to protect the civilian population in Rafah before any military action.

It should be noted that despite the support of the majority of the member states, the United States vetoed the resolution for Palestine’s permanent membership in the United Nations.
