Google Find My Device Network Launches for Android Learn How to Use

Google launched its Find My Device network for Android devices on Monday, April 8. The tech giant first announced the feature last year, but it took time to arrive. This feature uses a crowdsourced network of all Android users to locate lost smartphones and accessories. This feature works like Find My app on iPhone. Eric Key, VP of Engineering at Google, announced the feature in a blog post. said “Today the new Find My feature is rolling out to Android devices worldwide, starting in the US and Canada. With a new crowdsourced network of over a billion Android devices, Find My Device lets users find lost Can help find Android devices and daily needs faster.

The most important feature of the network is that it can detect devices even when they are offline. This means that the smartphone or accessory does not need to be connected to the Internet to track it. Additionally, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro users will be able to locate their devices even when the power is out or the battery is dead. This can be very important in case any device is stolen. Find My Device Network comes with a Find Nearby button that can help you find the exact location of a smartphone or accessories.

Google said that the Find My Device network capability will also support Bluetooth tracker tags from Chipolo and Pebblebee and track their location on the network. These tags can be attached to everyday essentials like keys, purses or bags etc. This feature will be launched from May. Bluetooth tags from Eufy, Motorola and Jio will also arrive later this year.

Additionally, the network will be integrated with Google Nest and the Android feature will show the proximity of the lost device to the Nest device to provide a reference point. Users can share any accessory with family and friends, so everyone can track their location. Using Bluetooth tags, users can share a house key or TV remote with their family and all members can search for the item simultaneously.

Privacy and data protection are also addressed. Google said that multi-layer protection is built into the network to keep personal information private. Find My Device comes with end-to-end encryption of network location data and a device location reporting feature that prevents unnecessary tracking of devices. This app will work with devices running Android 9 or later.
