How much is the net worth of America’s richest prisoner?

Chang Peng Zhao, the founder of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange network Binance, was sentenced to four months in prison earlier this week.

The 47-year-old former CEO of a cryptocurrency exchange has been sentenced in Seattle for violating US anti-money laundering laws, according to international media reports.

According to a Bloomberg report, the most powerful figure in the crypto industry, Chang Peng Xiao, is the richest prisoner in the US and possibly the world, with a net worth of $43 billion.

The Bloomberg report also noted that Changpengzhao’s wealth is expected to increase further while he is still in prison.

Despite stepping down as CEO of Binance, Chang Peng Zhao still owns about 90 percent of the company’s shares and is said to include many of his close friends on the company’s board of directors.

It should be noted that Changpeng Xiao is the second prominent person in the crypto world to be punished after FTX’s Sam Bankman Freud.

Chang Peng Zhao received a lesser sentence than the prosecution had sought thanks to US District Judge Richard Jones.

The sentence is one and a half years short of the maximum recommended under federal guidelines.
