IDC Report 2024 Q1 Apple Unseats Samsung as Leader in Mobile Shipments

Samsung (Samsung), a strong challenge from Android smartphone makers like Xiaomi has created a strong challenge for Apple.apple) has been pushed down from the top position in the smartphone market. Research firm IDC (IDC)’s latest data suggests that Apple’s smartphone shipments are expected to decline by nearly 10 percent in the first quarter of 2024. Global smartphone shipments rose 7.8 percent to 289.4 million units between January and March, with Samsung holding the top market share at 20.8 percent. That means Samsung has now come to the top position.

Reports According to , Apple showed tremendous strength in the last quarter of 2023. It overtook Samsung and became No.1. Now Apple’s market share has come down to 17.3% and it is in the second position. Huawei’s market share has increased in the first quarter of 2024.

Xiaomi is in the third position, capturing 14.1% market share. According to the report, Samsung has benefited from the Galaxy S24 series. Earlier this year, the company launched a new smartphone series. It has shipped 60 million phones in those three months. Counterpoint has already reported this.
Global sales of the Galaxy S24 smartphones increased by 8% in the first three weeks of sales compared to the Galaxy S23 series launched last year.

According to IDC, Apple shipped 50.1 million iPhones in the first three months of this year, down from 55.4 million units sold during the same period last year. iPhone sales in China have declined. There is a decrease of 2.1 percent compared to last year.

For Apple, China is one of its biggest markets. The decline in iPhone sales there is a concern for Apple. The ongoing tension between the US and China is not hidden from anyone. While the US has tightened its grip on several Chinese apps, China has also banned its employees and private companies from using iPhones in their offices.
