Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has said that Azam Khan and Asad Majeed could have been star witnesses in the cipher case, but Asad Majeed did not say anything that he could be a star witness.

A hearing was held in the Islamabad High Court on the appeal of Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi against the sentence in the cipher case. Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb conducted the hearing. PTI founder lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar and FIA Special Prosecutor Hamid Ali Shah appeared before the court.

Lawyer Salman Safdar said that the trial judge wrote that the future relations could be damaged by this cipher issue, the PTI founder did not violate his oath by taking the people into confidence.

Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb said that you are saying that Asad Majeed was the witness who was aware of the cipher text. On this, the lawyer Salman Safdar said that yes, he was aware of it, he recommended demarching.

Salman Safdar said that this trial has been very expensive for the Foreign Office. He came from the UAE two or three times to give a statement. Additional Secretary of the United States Faisal Niaz Tirmizi came from the UAE two or three times. He was brought for statement and his WhatsApp was not brought on record.

The Chief Justice said that we are discussing whether the ambassador can be called.
