India: Billionaire couple donates all their wealth and becomes a monk

Surat: A billionaire businessman and his wife from the Indian state of Gujarat took an incredible step by donating all their wealth to become monks.

Nowadays, every person is engaged in earning money for the better quality of life and bright future of himself and his family, in such a situation, it seems unbelievable that a billionaire businessman would donate all his wealth and property and leave the world. But Bhwesh Bhandari and his wife have surprised many by taking this step.

The Jain couple donated their entire fortune, worth two billion rupees, in February and will officially leave their past lives behind in a ceremony later this month.

Bhavesh Bhandari belongs to Himmatnagar city of Gujarat and he is associated with construction sector.

The reason for this revolutionary change in the life of the billionaire businessman and his wife is their young son and daughter. Two years ago, the couple’s nineteen-year-old daughter and sixteen-year-old son took up monasticism, and at their insistence, Bhavesh and his wife also made the difficult decision to give up lay life.

Bhavesh and his wife will formally become monks on April 22, after which they will be completely cut off from all their relatives and will not be allowed to carry any material possessions with them. The young people will be naked and their livelihood will be on the alms given by the people.

Like other monks, they will have only two white cloths on their body, kashkul in hand and a white broom which they will use to remove insects before sitting on the ground.

Many people are surprised by the decision of the famous Bhandari family in Gujarat to renounce the world for their emirate, but this is not the first family to donate all their wealth to monasticism, there have been many such examples before.
