Industrialists smart, action will now be taken against industries that harm the environment

KARACHI: In Shahr Quaid, action will now be taken against industries that harm the environment, industries that dump untreated waste into the sewers will come under the SEPA rules.

DG Environment Protection Sindh Naeem Ahmed Mughal has said that all commercial and industrial associations of Karachi have been ordered to install wastewater treatment plants, and the implementation of SEPA rules for dumping untreated waste in the Arabian Sea. This has been done to prevent leakage.

He said dirty and industrial water is continuously harming marine ecosystem and life, Section 11 of Sindh Environmental Protection Act 2014 obliges all industries, businesses and other institutions to protect against pollution of air, water and land, when That Section 21 gives the power to enforce the regulations and take action against those who do not comply.

According to Cepa, industries that do not adhere to these regulations and install necessary treatment plants will face legal consequences.
