Karachi: Ahead of the series against Pakistan, Irish cricket became embroiled in a contract dispute when the players refused to work on their old salaries.

The 3-match T20I series between Pakistan and Ireland will begin on Friday, but before that the Irish cricket contract became embroiled in a dispute, with the cricketers rejecting an offer made by the board, after the end of the last calendar year in March. Reports emerged that Cricket Ireland would receive a larger grant from the ICC, with the Irish Players’ Association negotiating with the board for a pay rise, with officials also responding positively.

In August, the Ireland Cricket Board learned how much funding had been increased, while the players continued to play under their old contracts, with Cricket Ireland hoping to have an extra $1.5 million due to the increase in ICC funding. But it could not happen because they would have to play the series against South Africa in UAE, this would also increase the expenses, due to which the Irish board had to revise the budget for 2024.
